Setting up a user proxy

Use this procedure to set up a user proxy that applies to yourself. That is, you need to assign one or more of your roles to another user, for example, because you are going on vacation.

To set up a user proxy for yourself, you must have ProxyGrantorAccess security class assigned to one of your roles, and the roles to assign to the proxy must be proxyable. If you need more information, consult your system administrator.

  1. From the navigation panel, click More.
  2. Click Proxy.
  3. Click the Go to Proxy Management link.
  4. Create a proxy. On the Proxy Definition list, click Create.
  5. Specify this information:
    Grantor
    Specify your actor name.
    Proxy Name
    Specify a name for the proxy.
    Description
    Specify a description for the proxy.
    From Date
    Select the first date the proxy is in effect.
    To Date
    Select the last date the proxy is in effect.
    Enabled
    Select to enable the proxy. For the grantee to switch to the grantor's access privileges, the proxy must be enabled and the current date must fall within the from and to dates.
  6. Click Save.
    The record is saved and the Proxy Roles and Proxy Granted To Actors tabs are displayed.
  7. Assign roles to your proxy. On the Proxy Roles tab, click Create.
    1. Select a role from among those assigned to you and which is used as a proxy.
    2. Click Save.
    3. Repeat the previous steps to assign more roles to the proxy.
  8. Assign the proxy to a grantee.
    1. Return to the Proxy Definition list.
    2. Double-click the proxy to assign grantees, or select the proxy and select More Actions > Update.
    3. On the Proxy Granted To Actors tab, click Create.
    4. Specify an actor ID in the Granted To field and click Save.
    5. Repeat the previous steps to assign your proxy to more grantees.
