About this guide

This guide describes the IRIS Filing Gateway (IFG) and includes the procedures you perform to transmit IRS 1099 information returns to the IRS Information Returns Intake System (IRIS) through the Application-to-Application (A2A) channel.

IRIS Filing Gateway is a desktop application. It authenticates to IRIS with OAuth 2.0 (JWT Bearer Grant), transmits IRS-compliant XML files, and tracks the acknowledgment status of each transmission.
