Authenticating

  1. Complete the required fields. The Authenticate with IRS button stays disabled until the form is valid.
  2. Click Authenticate with IRS.
  3. The status bar shows "Authenticating with IRS...". On success it shows "Authentication successful" and the workflow continues to the Transmit step.

If authentication fails, an alert appears describing the problem (for example, an incorrect passphrase, a certificate that cannot be read, or a network problem that prevented reaching the IRS token endpoint). Correct the issue and try again.
