Running the SHIFT Report for security inheritance

This procedure outlines a recommended end-to-end flow of using the Security Harmonization and Inheritance Framework Tool. Exact process may vary depending on your specific requirements.

  1. In the Security Administration, select Administration > Security Reports > Security Harmonization and Inheritance Framework Tool. If the consolidated Security Administration menu is enabled, select Reports > Security Harmonization and Inheritance Framework Tool.
  2. On the Security Class Design tab, click Import Configured Security Classes to load all active and valid security classes.
  3. Click Generate Analysis For Security Class to generate analysis for a single security class or Generate All Analysis to generate analysis for all security classes in the list.
  4. Click the Compare tab to review side-by-side LPL differences between the security class and the analysis class.
  5. On the Security Class Design tab, right-click the security class to migrate and select Create Extended Class.
  6. Select the Default Base Class Suffix as ‘EXT’ check box to set the name of the new extended class with EXT as suffix.
  7. Optionally, clear the Default Base Class Suffix as ‘EXT’ check box and specify a name in the New Extended Class Name field.
  8. Optionally, you can remove or include a securable object from the extended class. Right-click the securable object to modify on the Security Extension Class Analysis tab and select either Exclude From Extended Class or Include In Extended Class.
  9. Click the Draft Extended Class tab to view the newly created extended security class.
  10. Click the Draft RoleSecurityClass tab and click Sync From Role Security Class to sync role and security class assignments into the migration list.
    Caution: Syncing deletes existing migration data. Any uncommitted changes in the migration list are lost when this action runs.
  11. To assign new security class or new extended security classes to roles as required, right-click a migration record and select either Replace With Security Class or Replace With Extended Security Class.
  12. Click the Migration Results tab to review the migration entries.
  13. Click Commit Migration to process staged entries to the system. This action permanently imports extended roles and security classes into role security class.
    Note: Review each migration entries before running the Commit Migration action. Rows marked as No in the Migrated column are still pending and must be validated before committing.
  14. Review the committed migration details and status.
