Configurable Features for user roles

Configurable Features is an application within Landmark Security that enables security administrators to control the user interface features that security roles can and cannot use. You can enable and disable features like Create Report, Share Reports, Export to CSV, Personalization, and Configuration Console on a Role definition form.

The Configurable Features application is delivered as disabled. An administrator with access to the Configure Security console and Configuration Parameters must enable Configurable Features on the Configuration Parameters list and then tailor each Role in Configure Security console to enable and disable the user interface and Landmark features.

The Configurable Features application has a delivered. Some features are enabled by default because they are delivered that way.

You can view Configurable Features on an actor record. The information is view-only because the information presented here is derived from all the actor's roles.

Configurable Features does not replace security. This functionality "hides" these features from the user interface and does not do anything to secure the users from any business classes. If you need to be absolutely certain users cannot access certain business classes, it is still best to configure security classes and roles appropriately.

Enabling configurable features for a data area

Prior to release 2025.04, any feature added to a role was added to any roles with the same name across all data areas in the tenant, for example, gen, fsm, and hrt.

With release 2025.04, you can use the Override Data Area action to make configurable features for a role valid in the current data area only. For example, if you want the role NormalUser in the HRT data area to have different configurable features than NormalUser in the FSM, gen, or any other data areas in your tenant, you can use the Override Data Area Action to configure. For more information about setting the Override Data Area Action, see Update security roles for Configurable Features.
