Creating Schedule Exclusion Sets

Use this procedure to combine two or more schedule exclusion templates into a set. You can specify this set when you schedule a background action, such as a job or set action. This is useful if you need to use schedule exclusion rules and you have constructed the schedule exclusion templates to be modular. Each template works together with one or more other schedule exclusion templates to define a fuller set of schedule exclusion rules.

  1. In the Async Administrator, select Setup > Schedule.
  2. In the Schedule Exclusion Sets section, click Create.
  3. On the Schedule Exclusion Set form, specify this information:
    Schedule Exclusion Set
Specify a name for the schedule exclusion set.
    Description
Specify a description for the schedule exclusion set.
    Exclude When
Select Any Match to prevent an action from running if any schedule exclusion templates of this set match the calculated schedule time. Select All Matchto prevent an action from running only if all of the schedule exclusion templates of this set match the calculated schedule time.
    Roll Type
Select Skip to ignore the roll option and wait for the next valid schedule. Select any interval unit to roll the scheduled time.
    Roll Interval
Specify the number of intervals by which the schedule should move when a scheduled time falls on an excluded schedule. You can roll the scheduled time forward or backward. To move the scheduled time backward, enter a negative number.
Note: When rolling is defined, the roll interval and the roll type determine the unit and direction of the roll. For example, if the roll type is set to Day and roll interval is 1, the scheduled time is moved forward by one day at a time. If the first rolled time is still excluded, the process continues rolling. The rolling only stops when a non-excluded time is found based on your defined unit and interval, or when the maximum number of attempts is reached. If a schedule rolls successfully, the new rolled time becomes the starting point of the next scheduled occurrence.
    Roll Attempts
Select the number of attempts to make when rolling the scheduled time. The maximum number of attempts you can set is 10.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Schedule Exclusion Members section, click Create.
  6. Select Create and select an exclusion schedule.
  7. To add more exclusion set members, click Create in the Schedule Exclusion Members section. Select Add Row and select an exclusion schedule.
