Configuring a user channel
- Access the Process Server Administrator and select Administration > Channels Administrator.
- Click the User Channels tab.
- Click Actions > Create.

Specify this information:
- Channel Name

Assign a name to the channel. This can be anything and can include numbers and special characters. Use a name that reflects the purpose of the channel.
- Description

Optional. Assign a description that provides some detail about what the channel is used for.
- Enabled

By default, the channel is enabled meaning that it is available to be activated either automatically (when IPA is started) or manually. If a channel is disabled, none of its receivers can be activated.
- Action Type

Select the method by which you want to use the User channel. The default is Email, which means you can retrieve status information or trigger a service through the channel by sending an email.

For the incoming and outgoing mail server settings, specify this information:
- Mail Server

Specify the hostname of the email server.
- User Name

Specify the user name to use to connect to the mail server.
- Password

Specify the password for the user that is connecting to the mail server.
- TLS

Select Enable if the email server requires TLS authentication.

For the other email settings, specify this information:
- Scan Interval in Minutes

Specify the amount of time to wait in between scans of the email inbox.
- Last Email Scan Time

A display field that shows the last time the email inbox was scanned.
- Send Help Replies

Users have the option to receive help replies from the User Channel.

On Request: the system sends a help reply only upon the request of the user. User types "Help" in the subject line of an email and the system returns with a help reply that shows all possible commands that can be used.

For Invalid Commands And On Request: the system sends a help reply upon user request or when user types an incorrect command. The system sends a help reply that shows all possible commands that can be used.

Never: the system does not send any help replies.
