Taking action on a work unit on behalf of a user: administrator function

Infor Process Automation administrators can take actions on work units that are pending on a user action such as an approval.

You might use this capability if, for example, the user to whom an action had been routed (by the User Action activity node) was unable to act which caused the work unit, and process as a whole, to be delayed. In this situation, an administrator could find out from others affected by the process, what action should be taken and then perform it from the administration console. Following are the steps in that procedure.

Note:

You must know the action that you want to take before you perform this procedure. You can do this by reviewing the activity node that created the work unit to determine the available actions. (The users who have asked you to intervene with the work unit might also have provided this information.)

  1. Access the Process Server Administrator and select Administration > Work Units > Work Units.

Work units awaiting user action show a blue information icon (i) next to the Processing status. On the other hand, work units that are actively processing do not show the blue information icon.

  2. With the work unit for which you want to take action selected, right-click. Select Take action from the context menu.

    Or

Double-click the work unit and then, from the Action menu, select Take Action.

A dialog box for specifying the action you want to take on the work unit appears.

  3. Populate the following fields:
    • Action: Type the name of the action. Use the exact spelling, including case, of the name as it appears in the UserAction node.

    • Subject (optional): The subject line of the textual content of the action (if any).

    • Message (optional): The textual contents of the action (if any).

  4. Click OK when you are finished specifying the action to be taken.
