Creating customized security rules using Security Administration for the web: Overview

If you are knowledgeable about Landmark Pattern Language (LPL), you can use the Security Administration for the web to create security rules by directly editing LPL in an editing environment. The environment provides for side-by-side comparison of the existing rule and the changes you are proposing to make. It also allows you to view history of versions.

The LPL editing environment used by Security Administration for the web is the same as for Configuration Console for the web. If you need general information about using the web UI environment, see Configuration Console Web UI User Guide.

In Landmark, security rules are written against business classes. Depending on the complexity of the business class, there might be multiple conditions available that are not visible when you are working with the rule in the LPL editor. Infor experts recommend making a copy of the business class LPL and pasting it into a simple editor like Notepad that will not add any formatting. You can view the business class LPL while you are updating the rule. You can also copy/paste the portions of the business class LPL into the rule LPL and use it as a template for editing.

In addition to an LPL editing environment, Security Administration for the web provides change management tools and revision history of rules.
