Using the web-based LPL editor

  1. From the main menu of Security Administration for the web, navigate to Security Administration > Configurations.
  2. Copy the existing class that you want to base your new class on. Select Create > Copy Security Class.
  3. On the copy page, perform a search to locate the class you want to copy and, when you find and select it, assign a unique name and click Submit. The LPL for the copied class appears.
  4. Click Edit and begin making the changes. Save the new rule periodically as you work on it.
  5. View your new rule side-by-side against the original rule in split screen. One way to access is to navigate to Security Administration > Configurations > Master. From the list of updated rules, select the one you want to view and click the LPL History tab. The split window appears at the bottom of the page.
  6. Next steps are to test the new class in a non-production environment and, when you are satisfied that your class works as intended, assign it to the appropriate roles.
