Configuring file names for replication output

Use this procedure to cause output file names to be unique. You can set this option at the environment level, the application data area level, and for individual replication sets. By using this procedure, you can ensure that the output file names will be unique. By default, the output file names are the same for each replication set, thus causing previous files to be overwritten on a new replication of that set.

This procedure applies to the files created when you replicate data to FTP.

  1. In the Web UI, for each application data area for which you want to configure file output names, select Administration Console > Other > System Configuration Parameters > All.
  2. On the Configuration Parameter List form, click Create and specify this information:
    Component
    Specify Replication.
    Key
Specify export.file.name.versioning or export.file.name.versioning.RepSetName. If you include a replication set name (case sensitive) as part of the key name, this configuration parameter will apply only to that replication set.
    Type
    Specify Boolean.
    Value
Specify true. If you set this to true and the key name does not include a replication set name, then all replication output files for the data area will have a version number added to the file name. This number is incremented with each replication request even if no replication occurred because there were no changes (and incremental replication was not disabled). If you set this to true and the key name includes a replication set name, then this all replication output files for the replication set in the current data area will have a version number added to the file name. This number is incremented with each replication request even if no replication occurred because there were no changes (and incremental replication was not disabled).
  3. Click Save.
