Setting up a report distribution group

Use this procedure to create a report distribution group. You might use a report distribution group if one user runs a report but others need to print the report results. Batch applications are often run only once, but the result may need to be communicated to different parties in different ways, such as:

  • English speaking users might want an English PDF report, while French speaking users might want a report in French.
  • An accounting department might want an Excel report, but an automated business analytics system might need a CSV file.
  • A system administrator might want only the error report, if one is generated.

Report distribution groups allow these different reports to be distributed as mandated by business needs. You can select a report distribution group for each report included in a batch job. You can also choose to suppress the sending of blank reports to the distribution group in the event there is no data in a report.

Infor Landmark Technology Runtime also supports automatic printing of batch PDF reports using report distribution groups and an email recipient. The email recipient must be an email-enabled printer. If a printer is email-enabled, contact the printer's manufacturer to obtain the printer's email address. Use this address in Email To when creating a report distribution profile. The report is sent as an attachment to the printer. When using this feature, the From address should also be completed. If left blank, the generic System Configuration Parameter mail.from, in the email category, is used.

Report distribution groups consist of report distribution profiles, which in turn contain report options. Therefore setting up a report distribution group is a multi-step process.
