How Can Landmark and Infor Lawson System Foundation Environments Be Connected?
Infor Landmark Technology can be installed as a self-sufficient Environment supporting Landmark applications, or it can be installed such that it is connected to a Infor Lawson System Foundation Environment. Several types of connections are possible between a Landmark Environment and an Infor Lawson System Foundation Environment. What types of connections are required or optional is determined by which Landmark applications you have. The configuration for these connections is generally done during the installation of the Landmark Environment and the Landmark applications, although you may need to do some configuration after installation. See the installation guides for the Infor Landmark Technology and the Landmark applications for details.
A Landmark Environment and an Infor Lawson System Foundation Environment can be connected in the following ways:
-
Single Sign-On
You can federate the Landmark Environment and the Infor Lawson System Foundation Environment for authentication purposes. This is done by having users of both systems authenticate through the service that has been designated as the primary authentication service. Such a federated system consolidates the management of user identities.
If users authenticate through the same authentication service, you should use Lawson Security Services (LSS) to add users. For more information about setting up users in a federated system, see the Lawson Security Services Configuration Guide.
If the Landmark system is primary, additional configuration of the Landmark grid is necessary. For more information, see Grid Service Configuration for Landmark / Infor Lawson System Foundation Environments.
-
Direct data access
Direct data access refers to the database access needed by some Landmark applications to view records in the Lawson Applications of an Infor Lawson System Foundation system. When such direct data access is required by the Landmark application, there are restrictions on how the database instances and database schemas must be set up.
With direct data access, database tables from applications supported by Infor Lawson System Foundation are designated as "Is View" in LPL, and reorganized on the Landmark side into a database space that is designated as a view. A database view of the data is made available to Landmark applications. The data can be read and used, but not updated, by Landmark applications.
For more information, see the Landmark application installation guides and the Landmark database access guide for your database.
-
AGS transaction calls
Some Landmark application make AGS transaction calls to an Infor Lawson System Foundation system. The parameters for this connection are set up in the Landmark application's product line ConfigurationParameter table. For more information, see Configuring Lawson System Foundation AGS Transaction Calls.
