Setting Up Users for SMTP Server Authentication
You can configure the authentication such that either users authenticate as themselves or users authenticate via a shared user identity.
To set up SMTP authentication for users

Create the needed actors and actor identity records on the service that you created for SMTP server authentication.

If you are not using a shared identity for authentication, then you must add identities for the service you created for all users. The identity credentials will consist of a user name and password.

If you are using a shared identity for authentication, then you must add only the shared identity record to the SMTP service. The identity credentials will consist of a user name and password.

If you want users to authenticate using a shared identity, navigate to Start > Data > la > Business Classes > ConfigurationParameter or the Configuration Parameters form in the Landmark Administration Console, and create another configuration parameter with the following settings:

Specify a length sufficient to accommodate the actor ID of the shared identity.
