Implementing Unicode Support

Unicode support allows you to internationalize, or run Lawson software with languages that use non-Ascii characters.

Note:

The best time to implement Unicode support is when you create the database for your Lawson products. In some situations, you may be able to change your database setup, or to move your data to a new database, at a later point in time. Contact Lawson Global Support for more information if you need to convert an existing database.

Before you begin this procedure, set the database character set as described in Database Installation and Configuration Requirements. Record the character set used.

  1. During the installation you will be asked whether you want Unicode support. Choose Yes.
  2. A parameter will be added to the %LASRCDIR%\dict\DataArea.xml file to indicate that Unicode support is implemented.
