Planning for Your Table Spaces
Table spaces are physical storage spaces for your Lawson objects. They are a logical container for tables and indexes. A database contains table spaces and a table space contains database objects such as tables and indexes. This section focuses on determining how many table spaces you need and the size of spaces.
To successfully set up and implement Oracle, Lawson recommends a minimum of three table spaces, one for application data, one for indexes, and one for large objects. When planning your table spaces, consider these guidelines as well:
-
Separate indexes from the tables on which they are based.
-
Separate high-use and/or concurrently used tables and indexes from each other.
-
Separate large object table spaces from other data and index table spaces.
