Viewing database row counts

Use this procedure to obtain a count of the rows in database tables.

  1. Select Start > Applications > Administration Console > Database > Count Rows.
  2. On the Count Rows from Business Classes form, specify this information:
    Include
Specify which tables you want to count the rows for. The choices are All, Module, Business Class, and Other, which, respectively, stand for all tables, all tables in a module, all tables for a business class, or all tables matching an expression, such as Action* for all business classes whose names begin with Action. If you select anything except All, you must then specify the specific module, business class, or filename pattern.
    Subdirectory
If you want to export the row count report to a sub-directory of the FTP site directory, specify that directory.
    Command Output Filename
Specify a name for the command output file if you do not want to use the default value of dbcount.txt.
Suppress Business Classes with No Rows
Select this check box if you want to exclude from the report business classes with no rows.
Show Total Rows for All Business Classes
Select this check box if you want the report to include the total count of rows for all business classes.
    Filter
Limit the count of rows based on the specified filter value for the index keys of the table.
  3. Click OK to process the database row count now, or Schedule if you want to schedule the database row count.
