Stopping in-process work units

You can use the paadm tool to shut down workunit processing on all Grid nodes in a safe and predictable manner. If users are shutting down Grid nodes when Infor Process Automation might be processing long-running work units that should not be terminated early, a paadm command can be used to ensure that work units are not prematurely terminated.

  1. On the command line, run this command:

    paadm stop process execution

After this command is completed, it will be safe to shut down all Grid nodes running Process Automation.

  2. After the command is invoked, the program sends a request to all Grid nodes to perform these steps:
    1. Stop picking up new work units that are ready for processing.
    2. Wait for work units currently processing to suspend processing.

Suspend processing can mean the work unit has completed, or the work unit enters a User Action node or Wait node and is therefore no longer actively processing.

Under normal circumstances, when Grid nodes are stopped, the Grid gives Grid applications a grace period to stop processing before terminating them. The grace period can be configured in the Grid.
