Setting Up Supplemental Indexes

Supplemental indexes provide an alternate sort order for accessing Lawson (S3) or M3 Classic tables. They enhance performance for access to business classes that implement M3ClassicTable or S3ClassicTable yet do not have an existing SQL index with the needed sort order. Without the supplemental indexes, the sorting activity can significantly degrade response times.

Note:

The Oracle database user accessing the Lawson or M3 classic application data from Landmark must have the CREATE ANY INDEX privilege. This user is usually listed in $LARUNDIR/DATAAREA/db.cfg.
