About templates and documents

With Lawson Contract Management, there are two kinds of templates - contract templates and document and addendum templates.

  • Contract templates are similar to contracts, except that they default specific information onto contracts and can be reused for multiple contracts.

During setup, you must select the contract group for the contract template and enter a description for the template.

  • Document and addendum document templates indicate the layout in which to create contract documents or addendum documents (two or three columns, for example). These kind of templates are in Rich Text Format (.rtf). During setup, you indicate where the application can find the template file you want to use. Typically, administrators edit the template to include company-specific information, such as adding the company logo, name, address, and so on, before they are used to create contract documents.

Sample document templates are provided, and you find them at:

    Windows: %LASRCDIR%\productline\modules\cm\sample

    UNIX: $LASRCDIR/productline/modules/cm/sample

    Note:

The document template must be in Active status before you assign it to a contract document.

Contract documents contain all of your related contract information. They are particularly useful for reviewing, negotiating, and updating contract terms.
