Creating manual contracts

Creating a manual contract lets you enter contract information without using the interview process. When you create a manual contract, articles and terms are not required.

To create a contract

  1. Access Contract Management > In Progress tab.
  2. From the Actions menu, click Create.
  3. On the Create Contract form, use the following guidelines to enter field values:
    Contract Group

    Required. Select a contract group to be assigned to the contract.

    Contract

    Required. Type a name or short description for the contract that you are creating manually.

    Supplier

    Required. Select a supplier to assign to the contract.

    Supplier Contact

    Required. Select a supplier contact for the contract.

    Primary Internal Contact

    Select the person primarily responsible for the contract. This field is required before the contract can be released.

    Contract Type

    Required. Select a contract type to assign to the contract.

    Note: 

    If the Contract Type is for a vendor agreement, a vendor agreement reference and description are required prior to releasing the contract.

    Contract Classification

    Required. Select a contract classification to assign to the contract.

    Effective Date

    Optional. Select the date on which the manually created contract becomes effective.

    Note: 

    If you want to release the manually created contract, you must select an effective date in this field.

    Expiration Date

    Optional. Select the date on which the contract expires.

    The contract still displays in the Active tab and the All Contracts tab.

    Yellow Alert

    Type the number of days before the contract's expiration date that you want to be alerted.

    When you view the list of In Progress contracts, the yellow alert indicates the number of days remaining to expiration. You are prompted if an action needs to be taken.

    Red Alert

    Type the number of days before the contract's expiration date that you want to be alerted.

    When you view the list of In Progress contracts, the red alert warns you of the number of days remaining to expiration.

  4. Click Save.

    Information for the contract header is created. On the Update Contract form, click the active tabs and define additional contract information.
