Placing contracts and contract lines on hold

Contracts and contract lines can both be placed on hold (when the contract has a status of "In Progress"). For example, there is a dispute over a line item's cost, and you do not want to proceed with the contract until the issue is resolved. When a contract is on hold, its contract lines are also placed on hold automatically.

The current state of the contract remains the same and processing continues, with some limitations:

  • You cannot release or activate the contract until the hold is removed.

  • Contract lines cannot be taken off hold until their contract is taken off hold.

  • Contract lines cannot be taken off hold if some line items are inactive vendor items.

  • For an interfaced contract, its related vendor agreement and vendor agreement lines are also placed on hold.

  • You cannot default any costs from agreements when the contract is on hold.

When you are ready to take a contract off hold, you use the Remove Contract Hold action.
