Receiving update notifications
As a Close Resource, you have the ability to determine how you receive notifications about updates during period processing. You can receive updates as a Landmark notification, an email, or both. You can also choose to not receive notifications. You cannot choose which update activities you receive a notification for; you either receive notifications or not.
Updates that generate notifications
The following scenarios describe which updates generate notifications and who receives the notifications if they are setup to do so. If the resource doing the update is also the resource that owns the task or is part of the team on the task, they do not receive a notification.
-
Reassign a task at the team ownership level to a specific resource on the team. The resource the task is being assigned to should receive a notification.
-
Reassign a task that is assigned to a specific resource to a different resource. Both resources should receive a notification.
-
A resource that owns a task reassigns it to the team. All team members should receive a notification.
-
A task that requires approval upon completion. The resource associated with the first level of approval should receive a notification. If the level is set for team approval, then all members of the team should receive a notification. Subsequent approval level resources should receive a notification upon approval by the previous approval level.
Note:IPA automatically creates the landmark notification. If a resource does not have their landmark notifications turned on, they still receive a landmark notification about tasks waiting for their approval.
-
Reject a task that requires approval. The resource owner of the task should receive a notification.
-
Complete a task that is a prerequisite of another task. The resource owner of the task with the prerequisite should receive a notification if there are no other open prerequisites for the task. If the task with the prerequisite is only assigned to a team, then all of the team members should receive a notification.
-
Void a task. The resource owner of the task should receive a notification. If the task is only assigned to a team, then all of the team members should receive a notification.
-
Reopen a completed task. The resource task owner should receive a notification.
-
A process is completed when all of its detail tasks are completed. Upon completion of a process, the individual owner of the process should receive a notification. If the process is only assigned to a team, then all members should receive a notification.
