Understanding InfoSets

InfoSets are value-added data sources from which notifications get their data. InfoSets are chunks of information derived from enterprise data sources such as relational databases, spreadsheets, XML documents, and other sources.

The advantages of InfoSets over a raw data source include user-friendly descriptions, a definition of what direction constitutes a good or bad change for each individual data element (for example, a revenue item going up is good, while an expense item going down is not good), and the specification of links into other applications and web URLs.
