System Settings tool

The System Settings tool provides a way to edit many commonly used system settings. Some of these settings are auto-detected for you during system initialization and filled in accordingly.

The System Settings Tool is under the Settings section of the Admin Utilities screen. These are the system settings:

System Name
This is the name for the Smart Notification Server. This name is displayed in the General Information section of notifications delivered to users. This informs the user where the notification is coming from.
Full Path and Admin Full Path
This is the base for all URLs sent to users by the system. This path is auto-detected each time the application server is restarted and users connect to the system. When necessary, verify that the server, port, and path to the system context is correct. The URL should include the full server name.

For example, use http://lsnserver.mycompany.com/lsn/ instead of http://snserver/lsn/. You can use a program such as ping to find the full server name.

Servlet to HTML Path and Admin Servlet to HTML Path
This is the relative path from the location that servlets execute from within the application server to the root of the system context or to the context of the admin content. You will not need to alter this setting under normal conditions.
HTML to Servlet Path and Admin HTML to Servlet Path
This is the relative path from the root of the system context or from the Admin content to the location that servlets execute from. You will not need to alter this setting under normal conditions.
Admin Email Contact
This is an email address that users can use to report problems with the system. If the system detects errors within the user interface, the user is informed of the problem and given the opportunity to email the details to this email address.

The application server also logs any errors detected. If no email address is supplied the user is not given the option to email error details to anyone.

Plug-in Configuration URL
This URL specifies the location that rendering plug-ins can load their configuration documents from. If a rendering plug-in, for example, for a mapping engine, comes with a configuration file, it must be placed on the server so that it may be loaded from this URL.

To make upgrading your system easier, this URL should point to a location outside of the system context. For example, create a new context called notification_system_configuration that is not affected by new deployments of the system. Ensure that the URL includes the full server name.

Plug-in Temporary File URL
This is a URL that specifies the location of temporary files generated by rendering plug-ins. Users are sent and shown content that references files created in this directory. Ensure that the URL includes the full server name.
Plug-in Temporary File Path
This is a directory that is used to store temporary files created by plug-in rendering components such as mapping tools. This directory must exist on the server running the system. The Plug-in Temporary File URL setting must map to this directory.
Portal Domain
This is the domain that is used to integrate Framework Services and Smart Notification with the Lawson Portal.
Content Window
This sets the name of the window that is used to display notifications when the user views them from their home page. Set this value to notification_details to open a new window to display notifications in. To show notifications in the pane where the users home page is displayed, use period ( . ) as the value.
Service Automation Internal UserID and Password
Use these options to configure Smart Notification to function as part of the Lawson Electronic Support offering. If you have purchased this product you will have received information about these settings.
Synchronization Settings
Use the Synchronization Settings options to set the time of day for the system to synchronize users. You should leave the default of Hours Between Synchronizations so the synchronization is not triggered during hours of high system use. Use Synchronization Time of Day to set the time for the synchronization.
Personal Watch Updates
Personal Watch Updates supports Infor BI for Lawson and Infor Smart Office integration. If you are using Infor Smart Office with Infor BI for Lawson, use the Personal Watch Updates setting to schedule how often the system checks for any Infor Smart Office watches to process
