Managing system settings

This group of settings and configurations is to ensure the functionality of the Reporting Services components.

  1. Open the Tools dashboard and select Report Administration. The Reporting Services Administration screen is displayed.
  2. Select Server Administration > System Settings. The System Settings screen is displayed.
  3. Specify this information:
    Repository Path
    Specify a complete repository path. For example, D:\LawsonDocuments\. The repository must be on or available to the Reporting Services server. For example, the Where variable name is the name of the Reporting Services system variable. For example, server

    The repository is the location where all report masters, their instances, and individual publications are stored.

    Repository Available to Report Application Server
    Select True if the Crystal Reports server and Infor BI for Lawson are on two different servers.
    Report Archive Path
    Specify a complete report archive path. For example, D:\LawsonDocuments\Archive). The report archive must be on or available to the Reporting Services server.
    Archive Button
    Select to archive the reports that meet the criteria set up on the individual report.
    Maximum Report Publish Size
    Specify the maximum report size in bytes that the system will allow to be published. If the report exceeds this amount, the system generates an error message.
    Click Default to revert to the default size.
    Document Audit
    Select True or False to set document auditing. See, Working with report auditing.
  4. Specify the Framework Services Configuration information:
    Framework Location
    Specify the Framework Location. For example, http://server.company.com:8282/efs/). This is the URL for the Framework Services application.
  5. Specify the Web Server Configuration information:
    Reporting Service Location
    Specify the fully qualified domain name of where Reporting Services is located.
    Web Page Domain
    Specify the Web Page Domain, For example, company.com.
  6. Optionally, specify the Remote Web Server Configuration information:
    Note: If your end users will access Reporting Services via IIS, you will need to configure the IIS web server and then fill in the URL for both Framework Services and Reporting Services.

    If you are not using this configuration, skip this step.

    Framework Remote Location
    Specify the fully qualified domain name for Framework Services.
    Reporting Services Remote Location
    Specify the fully qualified domain name for Reporting Services.
  7. Specify the Security information:
    Reporting Services Administrator Role
    Specify the Reporting Services administrator role. This role is responsible for the security of system and data. The role that you specify can be any role defined in the Framework Services system. The role name Administrators is used as the default value during the install.
    Reporting Services Rights Administrator Role
    Specify the Reporting Services rights administrator role. This role is responsible for managing the bursting rights. The role that you specify can be any role defined in the Framework Services system. The role name Rights Administrators is used as the default value during the installation.
  8. Specify the Crystal Reports Server Configuration information:
    Default Report Application Server
    Specify the location of the default Crystal server that you want to use. You can change this setting on the individual report's data settings. If the Crystal server is on the same machine as Reporting Services, this value is typically 127.0.0.1. You can also specify a server name.
    Thread Pool Size (number of publications to burst concurrently)
    Select the number of publications to be processed simultaneously.
    Asynchronous Request set up
    Specify whether to disable or enable the web server requests by the Crystal Report Viewer.

    In RS System Settings, the Advanced Report Application Settings link is added. Click the link to show the list of RAS servers on the next page.

    If there is a value in Default Report Application Server, the list only shows one CRAS server.

    If the Default Report Application Server has no value, the list displayed is based from the CRAS servers indicated in the clientSDKOptions.xml from the Reporting Services.ear\WEB-INF\classes folder.

    In the Advances Report Application Settings page, the user may stop a running service, start a stopped service, or restart the service. Click Refresh Data to refresh the status of the RAS services.

    Note: The change in status depends on the RAS services processing. The maximum waiting time for automatic change in status is 1 minute. If the waiting time lapsed and RAS is still processing, the Refresh data link is displayed. Click Refresh data to manually update the status of the RAS services.

    When enabled, managing RAS services are logged in System/User Setting Audit.

    The Access Denied error is displayed if WAS is not running as a windows service or if the WAS service is not set up with an Administrator account in the RAS server.

    This feature only covers single and multiple vertically-scaled RAS servers. To properly configure a RAS health check, you must run installvalidator to retrieve the correct value for the the RAS config path.

  9. Specify the BackOffice Report information:
    Thread Pool Size (number of reports to burst concurrently)
    Select the number of BackOffice reports to be processed simultaneously.
    LSR for S3 Enabled
    Specify True or False for on or off rendering of BackOffice reports in LSR format.
    LSR for S3 URL
    Specify the URL of the LSR-S3 web application. The format is http://server:port/lsrcoreweb/LSR.
  10. Specify the Default Drill Around information:
    Note: You can override the default drill around settings by adding drill around settings to individual reports.
    Status
    Select whether you want to the Reporting Services to expire drill strings in report instances.
    • Click Disable if you do not want to use drill strings.
    • Click Enable if you want to use drill strings and control when they expire.
    Expiration Date
    If you selected Enabled, specify when you want drill strings to expire for instances of reports.
    • No expiration
    • When next instance is created
    • After a specific number of days

    Enable PDF links (for modern browsers)
    Specify whether to enable PDF links on reports. This option is for users of browsers such as Chrome and Edge.
  11. Specify the Crystal Reports Schedule Queue information:
    Report Schedule Queue Enabled
    This option is only applicable for new Report Schedules. An unchecked option denotes that:
    • The feature is disabled.
    • The Report Schedule Queue check box is disabled and unchecked in the Report Schedule page.

    A checked option denotes that:

    • The feature is enabled.
    • In the Report Schedule page, the Report Schedule Queue check box is:
      • Checked and enabled, if the Default On is selected
      • Unchecked and enabled, if the Default Off is selected
      • Checked and disabled, if the Forced on is selected
    Turn all existing schedule to
    Select On to enable the feature on all existing report schedules. The Report Schedule Queue check box is checked and enabled in the Report Schedule page.

    Select Off to disable the feature on all existing report schedules. The Report Schedule Queue check box is enabled and unchecked in the Report Schedule page.

  12. System/User Settings Audit is a logging capability of Reporting Services that audits changes, deletions, and additions on system or user settings. Specify this information:
    System/User Settings Audit Enabled

    Select True to enable System/User Settings Audit. Select False to disable this feature.

    Archive Path
    Specify the destination folder for the archived logs. The value should be in the format C:\Logs\.
    Note: The default location of the log file is in the web server profile where Reporting Services is deployed.
    Archive Roll Frequency
    Select the frequency of rolling the log file.
    • Monthly: Rollover of logs is at the beginning of every month.
    • Weekly: Rollover of logs is at the first day of each week. The first day of the week depends on the locale.
    • Daily: Rollover of logs is at midnight each day.
    Note: Rollover runs when a log is made on the next day, week, or month.
    Number of Days Logs Stay in Archive
    Specify how many days archived log files are kept before the oldest is deleted. Integer value may range from 0–365 and the default value is 7. Archived log file can be kept in the repository for up to 365 days.

    All logs are saved in a file named log4j_fisma.log. Archives of previous logs are compressed as .zip files.
