Creating and maintaining an output device

Use to add an device to Reporting Services or to modify an existing device. There are several different ways to build a list containing the devices you want to access. See Accessing devices.

  1. Open the Tools dashboard and select Report Administration. The Reporting Services Administration screen is displayed.
  2. Select Server Administration > Email and Printer Settings. The Delivery Administration screen is displayed.
  3. Click User Devices or System Devices depending on what type you want to add or modify.
  4. Specify a user name.
  5. If you are creating a new device, click New. The New Device screen is displayed. If you are modifying an existing device, click Device Tools > All Devices and locate and click the item that you want to modify. The Device Parameter screen is displayed.
  6. Specify this information:
    Name
    Specify the name of the device. For example, email.
    Owner
    The default value is your login name. You cannot modify this field or reassign the owner of the device.
    Because the printer and network drive devices are system devices, this field defaults to SYSTEM MANAGER. You cannot modify this field or reassign the owner of the device.
    Description
    Optionally, specify a description for the device you are setting up. This description is only displayed in the device list.
    Address
    Specify the address for the email device. For example, rstegner@acme.com. You can specify only one email address in this field.
    Specify the network location of the printer or network drive.
    Device Type
    Select the name of the device type. This field maps the corresponding information to the device type and is case sensitive.
    Note: 
    • When adding or modifying a user device, the list contains a list of all email device types that exist on the system.
    • When adding or modifying a system device, the list contains a list of all printer and network device types that exist on the system.
  7. Click Save.
