Switching a preferred device

Note: For printer and network drive devices to work properly, the web application server must be running as a user with read/write access to the printer or network drive directory being configured. Using Local System for the setting of Log On As service value generally will not work properly. Use the properties option on the service to change this value.

Use this procedure to switch the preferred status from one device to another. The preferred status indicates where Reporting Services sends email or prints a report. You can perform this procedure for a user device or a system device.

  1. Open the Tools dashboard and select Report Administration. The Reporting Services Administration screen is displayed.
  2. Select Server Administration > Email and Printer Settings. The Delivery Administration screen is displayed. See Accessing devices.
  3. In Preferred Devices for User Name, select the name of the device that you want to make the preferred device. The screen refreshes and indicates the new preferred device, for example, email is preferred.
