Validating the Smart Notification Installation

To change any information or data using the Smart Notification Installation Validator, you must log in as an administrator.

  1. Sign in to Framework Services before validating the Smart Notification installation.
  2. Launch the Smart Notification Installation Validator from:

    http:// servername.mycompany.com:port /lsn/admin/installvalidator.jsp

    For example:

    http://europe.lawson.com:9080/lsn/admin/installvalidator.jsp

Note: For convenience, bookmark this location for ease of access later.

Each partially complete or failed step contains the error, a link to the location where you can change settings, and additional information.

Since some steps require information from earlier steps, correct each configuration issue in the order in which it appears.

  3. Click Show All Tests.

The Lawson Smart Notification Installation Validator shows a list of failed or incomplete configuration steps marked by color codes:

    • Green (passed)

    • Yellow (partially complete)

    • Red (failed)

  4. Scroll to Repository Cleanup.

Select Click here to delete the obsolete queue status records.

All records which document the completed status of jobs within the Smart Notification job queue are removed from the repository.

  5. Go through each of the Installation Validator steps, correcting each cautionary or failed step in turn. All tests should show a green color code before you can consider the installation successful.

    Test steps are described below.

    Step Title Description
    1 System Information

This step provides a summary of verified system information.

Note: This step has no color code.
    2 System Configuration Settings

This step loads the system settings and gives you the opportunity to edit the system configuration using the System Configuration Assistant.

    • Authentication Provider

You must set the Smart Notification authentication to Framework Services. See the steps in Change the Smart Notification authentication.

Smart Notification synchronizes users and groups with Framework Services. See the instructions in Set the Smart Notification synchronization.

Note: You must complete this step for synchronization of users and groups in Smart Notification to work.
    • Repository

The JNDI name field contains the JNDI name associated with the data source created in WebSphere's server.xml file.

    • For MS SQL

Set the Repository SQL Driver Type field to MSSQL.

You can use the optional Repository SQL Driver Prefix field to define several driver configurations, each one with a different prefix. You might want to use "MSSQL" to differentiate it from other driver configurations.

    • For Oracle

Set the Repository SQL Driver Type field to Oracle Pooled.

You can use the optional Repository SQL Driver Prefix field to define several driver configurations, each one with a different prefix. You can use "ORACLE" to differentiate it from other driver configurations.

    3 Repository Validation

This step validates the JNDI data source, repository driver, JNDI name, and repository object.

Note: This step has no color code.
    4 Database Driver Location (JDBC)

This step verifies that the database driver is present.

Note: This step has no color code.
5 Repository Settings This step verifies that repository settings have been configured correctly.
6 Logger Validation This step verifies that the log settings have been configured correctly.
7 Authentication Validation This step verifies that the role provider can list users and groups.
    8 Authentication Test

If you use the default text-based authenticator that is delivered during installation, enter a user name and password of lawson for both. If you set up another type of authenticator, enter any values you choose.

This step enables you to perform a test of the authenticator installed on the system.

9 Synchronize Users and Groups This step can be ignored.
10 Data Engine Validation This step can be ignored.
    11 System Settings

This step verifies that system URL and system name have been set.

Provide a friendly system name in the System Name field. If necessary, provide the Framework Services URL in the URL field.

If you have converted from an Infor BI for Lawson installation lower than 10.0, then you may continue to use the ChartFx integration. If your initial delivery of Infor BI for Lawson is 10.0 or higher, then you must use the FusionCharts provided Charting Engine.

If you are moving to FusionCharts from Lawson Charting FX, then you may keep Lawson Charting on a test system. You can use this test system to compare charts and output with FusionCharts before implementing FusionCharts in production.
