Dashboard components

Each Dashboard component and control is described in alphabetical order.

Caution: 
*, ", <, >, \ are special characters reserved for code operations and HTML and must not be used in dashboard titles or any other titles or object names in Infor BI for Lawson. For example, Framework Services dashboards, content modules and content links or items as well as Smart Notification Infosets and alerts and Reporting Services report names. These characters are used inside user-specified descriptions. They are also used in referencing file names and file paths. All other characters, including non-English characters, are legal everywhere.
Breadcrumb
The breadcrumb is a string that expands and collapses depending on where you are in the dashboard interface. The active dashboards are displayed as the last name in the breadcrumb. Individual breadcrumbs are linked to the named dashboard.
Content links and content items
You can insert one or more content links or one content item to a content module. Content links link to the content that are presented to the user. You can provide links to web pages, an application, a Lawson form, or a Smart Notification or any content that can show in a browser.
Content link menu
The content link menu is the plus (+) sign to the right of the link name. Click it to modify the link's properties.
A content link opens a content module or content item.
Content module
You can have one or more content modules in a dashboard. Content modules are holders for content links and items.
Content module icon
The content module icon on the right side of the module title bar shows the Content Module Edit options.
Content module image
You can place a small image in a content module to provide an indication of the module's content or purpose. A set of images is supplied with the installation and you can import your own images and logos.

Use a brief title that describes the content.
Content module title icon
You can place an icon at the left and right sides of the content module title to provide additional links and fly-over messages. A set of icons is supplied with the installation and you can import your own icons to the web server so that they are displayed in the icon selection window. In addition, you can show any icon by inserting the icon's absolute URL.
Dashboard menu
The plus sign (+) to the right side of the dashboard breadcrumb shows the Dashboard menu which contains options for modifying the dashboard's attributes.
Dashboard tab bar
Each dashboard has an identifying tab. Dashboard tabs are displayed in a horizontal bar across the browser. Click a tab to bring a dashboard to the front. You can arrange the order in which the tabs are displayed from left to right. You can set any dashboard as the start page, which is displayed on top when Framework Services is launched.
Dashboard title
The dashboard title is the same as the tab title. You can hide the title to remove this redundancy in top level dashboards. Lower level dashboards have no tabs and so you normally show the title to identify them.
Dashboard menu icon
The dashboard menu icon is displayed on the right-hand side of the browser. This menu enables you to add dashboards, change preferences, and refresh the Framework Services display.
Expand and collapse controls
You can expand and collapse content link hierarchies. The up and down arrows indicate the expanded and collapsed states.

Click the Framework Services menu icon, on the right hand side, to add a new dashboard or set your preferences.
