Relationship between data sources and InfoSets
A data source is a file or database that contains the data to build an InfoSet. A data source can be one of these:
- Relational database
- Application
- XML document
- OLAP database
- Flat file
You can create data sources by.
- Building and saving reusable data sources with the Work With Data Sources tool. The prebuilt data sources are then available to choose from when you create an InfoSet.
- Building a data source specific to the InfoSet being created.
Data Source Type | Description |
---|---|
Lawson Data (DME) | Allows you to extract data from a Lawson application using the Lawson Data
(DME). If you select this option, you can select any of the DME data sources that you set up with the Work With Data Sources tool. |
Relational Databases | Allows you to extract data from a Relational Database System (RDBMS) such as
Oracle, IBM DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server. This data source uses a JNDI or JDBC driver
supplied by the database vendor or a third party. If you select this option, you can select any of the JDBC or JNDI data sources that you set up with the Work With Data Sources tool. |
XML Documents | Allows you to extract data from XML documents. |
Delimited Documents | Allows you to extract data from delimited documents, such as Comma Separated Value (CSV) files. |
Java Property Documents | Allows you to extract data from property documents. In property documents, the property is a textual string that uses periods to break the property name into chunks. The data value contains an equal sign and a value. For example, Sales.Qtr1=$25,000. |
OLAP Servers | Allows you to extract data from OLAP servers. |
LDAP | Allows you to extract data from directory servers, such as ActiveDirectory and iPlanet. |
Internal InfoSets |
Allows you to populate InfoSet data that is stored within Smart Notification. You can use the InfoSet Editor tool to modify the data within an internal InfoSet. |
File System | Allows you to extract data from a file system, for example, a hard drive. This data source allows you to capture data relating to the file system such as recently updated file and large log files. |
