Feature updates for all installations

Startpads and the Startpad Manager

Description
Startpads are groups of shortcuts to frequently used applications. The Startpad Manager is the tool used to create and manage Startpads.
  • End-users can create and edit private startpads for their own personal use.
  • Administrators can create and edit shared startpads and deploy them to groups of users based on role.

Each startpad you create can serve a specific purpose or be adapted to a certain role in your organization. By restricting access to startpads by role, the administrator can use startpads to control user access to applications running in Infor Smart Office.

The Startpad feature is delivered as a separate installation package, which is available from the Infor Smart Office download record on Infor Support Portal.

Mashup File Administration tool

Description

You can use the new Mashup File Administration Tool to control user access to deployed Mashup files. You can select users or roles from the user repository to which Infor Smart Office authenticates and connect them to applications in a deployed mashup project. You can also set up mashup files to prevent any user from accessing them, or allow public access, meaning that all users can access them.

New utility to manage Settings files

Description

SettingsTool.exe is a command line tool that exports and imports settings files, predefined widget files, and link files. These files are edited through the Settings Editor, Predefined Widgets Editor, and Link Manager in the Infor Smart Office Administration Tools.

SettingsTool.exe allows administrators to update these files without opening the Infor Smart Office client.

New utility to manage User files

Description

A new utility, UserFilesTool.exe, is delivered to allow administrators to manage user files without opening the Infor Smart Office client.

UserFilesTool.exe has two features:
  • It is used to delete files, download files, and upload or replace roamed user and settings files for individual users.
  • Users’ favorites and canvas files from the file system in Lawson Smart Office 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.3.0 are imported into the Infor Smart Office 10.0.5.0 GDBC database.

Changes to News Reader Authentication support

Description

You can also configure the widget to use the current Infor Smart Office credentials or Windows Authentication.

The News Reader now supports basic authentication and Integrated Windows Authentication (NTLM). You can specify a user name and password for basic authentication and these values are stored locally and encrypted on the machine so an administrator cannot configure a default super user and password.
