Launching Enterprise Search from the Infor Smart Office Show menu

This topic describes how to run a search to locate enterprise data by launching Enterprise Search from the Infor Smart Office Show menu.

Note: To make use of all features described in this section, you must have purchased and installed Enterprise Search.
  1. From the Show menu on the Infor Smart Office toolbar, click Search.
Note: You can also right-click the canvas and select Search from the context menu.
  2. On the Search dialog box, specify your search words in the text box.

If the Auto Suggestion feature is enabled, a list of related search terms is displayed as you specify your search parameters. For more information about enabling this feature, see Adding Enterprise Search to the system profile in Infor Smart Office Administration Guide.

Search spelling suggestions ("Did You Mean") are also available in case you have misspelled a search term. When you click a suggestion link, a new search is performed based on the suggested term.

  3. Further refine your search criteria by selecting areas, or interest centers, in which you want to conduct the search. For example, if you only Lawson Business Data contains the information you are looking for, you can deselect Reference and Desktop.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Click links in the results list to go to additional information.

The example search on "fixed asset" resulted in hits in the database.

If, for example, Twingly had been selected as an interest center, the list would likely have resulted in blog sites where "fixed asset" was mentioned.

  6. If you run a particular search often, you can make it into a favorite.
    1. Double-click Favorites.
    2. At the pop-up for Create Favorite, specify a name to identify the search, such as, search for fixed asset, and then click OK.

The search favorite is grouped under Favorites. When you double-click the link for search for fixed asset, the search is run.

    3. Depending on configuration, searches that you recently ran are grouped under Recent.
