Export to Excel

This topic describes how to export a program to Excel. There are several ways to do it. One way is to create a template where you can decide how to format the data. It is also possible to use one of three different quicker options for exporting:

  • Use Source Format

  • User Target Format

  • Use Text Only

Use Source Format means that the program tries to analyze which formats are used in the M3 table and formats them accordingly.

Use Target Format means that Excel will make assumptions about how the data should be formatted.

For Use Source Format and Use Target Format options, you have to verify that the data in the resulting Excel file is correct because some data might be exported incorrectly if the analysis or Excel misinterprets some field. The Use Text Only should always export the data as it is, but it will always be formatted as text in Excel so it cannot be directly used in Excel calculations.

When you create a template, you can choose which formats should be used to ensure that the data is exported the way you want it to be. When you are finished creating your template, save it so that you can easily use it as quicker option, and you can use it multiple times for that specific program view and sorting order.

For all export options, you have the possibility to export selected rows or the entire table. You can also choose to include conditional styles and to export the data into an existing Excel template.

You must be on Microsoft Office 2007 to use this feature.
