Launching Enterprise Search within an application

This topic describes how to run a search to locate enterprise data from within an application with Enterprise Search. You can run a search from within an application.

Note: For most features described in this section, you must have purchased and installed Enterprise Search.
  1. From within an application, specify your search criteria in the Search box on the toolbar and then click the arrow.
  2. To locate additional information about a particular result in the list, right-click the item and then, from the context menu, select Find in Enterprise Search.

Select Global, In Field Context, or In Program Context.

The system performs a search based on the item you have marked.

    • Global: Launches a broad search that includes the Infor M3 Business Engine and the Internet.

    • In Field Context: Performs a narrower search than global that includes the field context. The result will be a list of the same text in the same field within M3 Business Engine.

    • In Program Context: Performs a narrower search than Field Context that includes the field context and the tables used by this program.

The result will be a list of the same text, in the same field within these tables in Infor M3 Business Engine. (The tables used by a certain program are defined using the functions in CMS021 and CMS022.)
