Using Lawson variables for filtering and searching

If you filter or search for similar information frequently, using variables can save you time. Variables are available from the context menus of many Lawson objects, including list-driven form filter fields, Info Browser settings, Criteria fields, links, and so on.

Variables save time because they predefine information you want to filter on or search for. In addition, if you change a filter/search value, you can do it one time and it will be changed everywhere the variable is used.

Variables can be defined for a role (by your system administrator) or, if your administrator has given you the right to do so, you can define them for yourself.
