Roaming profiles

Roaming Profiles means that the user’s profile and settings are available for the user regardless of which machine is used to log on to Infor Smart Office. The user’s settings and selected profile are stored locally on disk and on the server. When the users logs in, the timestamp on the local files are compared with the files on the Infor Smart Office server. If the files on the server are newer, these files are downloaded to the local file area. When Infor Smart Office closes, changed files are uploaded to the Infor Smart Office server.

Roaming profiles are enabled/disabled in the Mango Core settings of the Settings Editor. The Enable Roaming Profiles settings can be enabled or disabled. Default setting is Enabled.

Note: There is an additional performance cost of running roaming profiles both when it comes to start-up delays and network utilization. There is also a consideration for the grid. The grid property mango.roaming.maxsize default is 2000 kb but it is recommended to adjust it to 500 kb, so users can receive notification if they are using features that have large roaming files. The size of these files impacts the network traffic.

These features support roaming:

  • Canvas. Users will get their own canvas regardless of the machine used to access Infor Smart Office.

  • Favorites and recent favorites list.

  • User settings, Infor Smart Office Settings and all other application settings.

These features do not support roaming:

  • Textbox history (used for example in MForms to suggest an input value for a field from previous inputs).

  • Last used server

  • Last logged in user

  • Quick note data

  • Navigator history, recent

  • Infor Smart Office language

  • Application Window size and state information

  • M3 Menu

  • BusinessFeed data (only cache for better performance), no data lost.

  • M3 MForms features including

    • Big/Small panel navigator

    • Customization disabled (if the user is allowed to use customization, he/she can turn it off)

    • Some Gantt settings

    • Toolbox area settings

    • Favorites (Textbox history)

The files that are uploaded and downloaded to the server are located in the UsersFiles folder in the installation path for Server for Infor Smart Office. The folder that contains the user’s files has the same name as the user Id.
