Infor Smart Office settings overview

These settings are available in all Infor Smart Office Installations:

  • Mango Core - These settings control the default profile setting, roaming profiles, access to applications and widgets, and timeouts for web services communications.
  • Mango UI - These settings control the default canvas, the users' ability to create and save their own canvas, and the items that are displayed on the canvas.

Each application that comes with Infor Smart Office also has its own settings, for example:

  • MForms contains parameters for M3 BE applications in Infor Smart Office.
  • S3 Client contains parameters for Lawson Enterprise Applications in Infor Smart Office.
  • LBI Client and LBI Runtime contains parameters for LBI/Analysis in Infor Smart Office.

Your installation may contain other settings for applications you have installed. For documentation on application-specific settings, see the installation guide for each application.

For Infor Smart Office 10.0.5.0 and higher, settings files are located in the GDBC database on the server.

Editing settings files

There are two ways to edit settings files:

  • Use the Settings Editor, available in the Administrator Tools in the Navigator.
  • In Infor Smart Office 10.0.5.0 and higher, the SettingsTool.exe utility allows you to edit settings files without opening the Infor Smart Office client. See Using the SettingsTool.exe to edit settings files.

Role-based settings

Each setting can be described as a group policy in Active Directory and can be connected to users or groups of users. When Infor Smart Office receives the settings files from the server, it will check for any overriding group polices before returning any values to the client. With this functionality it is easy to set up different configurations for different types of users.

Adding a settings value as a Group Policy

Steps described in Creating a group policy specifying Infor Smart Office Server URL must be performed before continuing.

In the Group Policy Manager, edit the Group Policy Object (usually the Infor Smart Office object). Navigate to the setting that should be changed. Open the setting and then enable it. Some settings may need more input like a string or a list of strings.

These settings are available for Group Policy Objects:

Allowed Applications See Mango Core.
Allowed Widgets See Mango Core.
Disable Customization See MForms.
Disable User Customization See MForms.
Disable Script Tool See MForms.
