News Reader authentication options

In Infor Smart Office 10.0.5.0 and higher, the News Reader supports authentication. Authentication options can be chosen either by the end user or the administrator:

  • If EnableSettings is set to True in the Predefined Widget configuration, the end user can select an authentication option in the Widget Settings.

  • If users are not permitted to change Widget settings (EnableSettings is false), then the authentication option can be set globally by the administrator in the Predefined Widget configuration. However, it is not possible for an administrator to configure a default super user and password.

These authentication types are supported:

  • Basic authentication with two options:

    • Basic Authentication with current credentials uses the user's Infor Smart Office credentials to authenticate. The user will not need to supply a user name/password combination to access the RSS feed.

    • Basic Authentication with user name and password requires the user to enter a user ID and password. These values will be stored locally and encrypted on the end-user's machine.

  • Integrated Windows Authentication (NTLM)
