Using Lawson Net Trace in Infor Smart Office (Lawson applications only)

If you or a user receives unexpected results from a call or transaction, you can use Lawson.Net Trace to try to isolate the problem.

When you run Lawson.Net Trace, a window showing the commands that have been recently processed by Infor Smart Office appears. This information should help you isolate the unexpected results.

If Lawson.Net Trace is run from a user's machine, they can copy the information to the clipboard and then send it to the administrator for analysis.

Note: Lawson.Net Trace launches from the Lawson Administration menu. In order to see this menu, you must have access to the Lawson Administration menu (portaladmin attribute = yes in User Attributes). If necessary, you can temporarily grant users access to this menu.
  1. From Navigator, select Infor Lawson > Lawson Administration > Lawson.Net Trace.
  2. A transaction or call must be executing for Net.Trace to show. If necessary, start the call or transaction.

    Net.Trace begins displaying information on-screen.

You can stop the trace at any time by clicking the Stop Trace button or by selecting it from the Actions menu.

  3. Use the Actions menu to perform any of these:
    • Stop Trace: Stops Lawson.Net Trace (also available as a button on the dialog box)
    • Clear Trace List: Removes everything currently logged. You might use this feature, if, for example, you have closed all executing programs except the on you are investigating, to make the output easier to read.
    • Copy Trace Details: Use to make a clipboard copy of all information currently contained in the trace view. You could then paste the information into a text file. (This is a method through which a user could send information to an administrator. Depending on procedures at your site, this option might be superseded by the Save Trace feature.)
    • Save Trace List: This option prompts you for a location to save a file of the trace information.
