User authentication

When the security administrator adds a new user to Lawson Security/Resource Management, the administrator creates an "SSOP identity" for the user. An identity can be thought of as an electronic passport to the system. The SSOP identity is the specific type of identity that all Lawson users must have and which allows access to the Infor Smart Office.

When a user signs into the Infor Smart Office, the system checks whether the user has an SSOP identity. If one is found, the system then authenticates the user's ID and password, and allows or denies access to Infor Smart Office.

An SSOP identity is just one identity that a user might have. A user might need a separate identity to access the database or a Lawson application that has special security. But, because of single sign-on, users typically do not have to authenticate a second time. This is because, as a user navigates the Lawson system, the various identities exchange information about the user and whether he or she can access a specific component. More information about identities is available in Lawson Administration: Resources and Security Guide.
