How the Infor Smart Office determines which role file to use

If you are using a combination of default and custom roles, the following checks are made (by the web-tier layer in Lawson System Foundation):

  1. Checks the Resource Management PortalRole attribute for the name of an Infor Smart Office role file for the user.
  2. Checks the application server location /PersistData/lawson/SmartClient/data/roles to make sure the specified file is actually there. If an Infor Smart Office role file other than the default role file is specified but is not in the location, the default role file will be used.
  3. If the PortalRole attribute for a user is blank (which could only happen if a security administrator had removed the Lawson-delivered default but had not provided a replacement), Infor Smart Office will return an error and will not load.
