Administering and configuring Infor Smart Office

Working with Client Configuration

Infor Smart Office always needs a server to start and execute. The client receives this information, a URL to the Grid over HTTPS, as a start parameter, or else retrieves it as from a group policy set in Active Directory. See Client configuration.

Working with System Profiles

The system profile defines the back end systems that the Infor Smart Office server is configured to work with. During the installation of the server for Infor Smart Office, a default system profile is created. The administrator can modify the default profile, and create new ones. For information on how to create and manage system profiles, see About system profiles.

Widgets

Widgets are tools that are displayed on the canvas. Some widgets contain general functions, others contain functions that are specific to certain applications running in Infor Smart Office. The widgets are packed and delivered with the installation of Infor Smart Office. For more information about managing widgets, see Widget administration.

User Management

When accessing the Infor Smart Office server, the Session Provider in the Grid authenticates the user. All authenticated users have access to the Infor Smart Office server. For more information about Grid and Session Provider, see the documentation for Grid. Some features in Infor Smart Office are only available if the user has been added to the Infor Smart Office administrator role. See Adding administrator users.

Language

The languages for the Infor Smart Office interface are included in the installation. Depending on the version that was installed, different languages are available for the user in the Infor Smart Office settings dialog. The language that is changed in Infor Smart Office only affects the Infor Smart Office framework and not the applications that are executed. For more information about selecting languages, see the Infor Smart Office online help.

Each application you use with Infor Smart Office has its own requirements for language settings. For more information, see Setting language or locale for Infor Smart Office and the M3 Business Engine and Setting language or locale for Infor Smart Office and the Lawson Enterprise Applications.

Personalization

M3 Business Engine and Lawson Enterprise Applications support personalization by individual users. Examples of personalization are conditional styles, hyperlinks, changing the tab order on a panel, and changing field label text. You can create personalization for one user, for many users, for all users, or for a group of users. You can also disable and enable personalization and to only allow a group of users to create a personalization.

For more information, see Managing M3 MForms personalizations and Managing SForms personalizations.
