Working with startpads
A startpad is a group of shortcuts to applications. You can create startpads with links to applications that you frequently use. For example, if you frequently access several procurement applications, you can create a startpad with links to all of them. You can create groups within a startpad to further organize your applications. The Startpad Manager tool is available to all Infor Smart Office users from the Navigator.
Startpads created for personal use are called private startpads. These startpads are stored on users' local system and can only be used or updated by the user who created them. An export and import feature allows users to share startpads. Private startpads are automatically available in the Navigator under Startpad>Private.
As an Infor Smart Office administrator, you can create, deploy, and manage startpads for the user community. Deployed startpads reside on the Infor Smart Office server. Changes you make to deployed startpads are not automatically copied to private startpads which reside on your local machine.
You can control user access to startpads using the Startpad Administration tool. There are several levels of user access:
-
You can make a startpad public, which means that all Infor Smart Office users will be able to use it.
-
You can also grant access to individual users or groups of users.
-
You can grant access to one or more roles defined in your user repository.
-
You can remove all access rights, and only users with administrator privileges will be able to work with that startpad.
