Adding or assigning rule interface
A rule is a setting customization that you make that determines a user's or a group of users' access to features when you want that access to be different from the default. For example, if you want only certain users to be able to create personalizations, your default setting for the option "Disable user personalizations" would be On (meaning, by default, users cannot make them). Then you would create a rule that would turn off "Disable user personalizations" (meaning, personalizations would be On for those users).
When you create a rule, you must:
-
Assign a name to the rule: typically, you would choose a name that describes the purpose of the rule. For example, "Enable user personalizations for power users" would be a good name for the rule we have been using in the examples in this topic.
-
Select users for whom the rule should be applied. Select users individually, select users by role or use a combination.
-
To lock a setting so that users cannot update it, select the check box that corresponds to that setting. When a check mark appears, a setting is locked.
Optionally, you can:
-
Update other options for the setting as available. For example, in MForms, you can use the "Show company and version info" option to show the current company, division, and version information on the title bar of an MForm.
