Signing the Infor Smart Office manifest file

When Infor Smart Office is installed on the client, Microsoft Click Once technology is used. The manifest file in a Click Once application must contain the URL from where the application is installed. The manifest file is signed during Infor Smart Office installation when the Sign tool is run. If the manifest is not signed, Windows will refuse to install the application.

For more information about how the manifest is signed, see the Infor Smart Office Installation Guide.

As with SSL, these three types of SHA-2 certificates can be used:

  • Issued by a third party vendor. This works over the Internet but costs money and might take several days to obtain.

  • Issued by an in-house certificate authority. This works in an internal network and is free of charge.

  • Self-signed certificate. This type of certificate can be used but is not recommended because it is not as secure as certificates issued by a root certificate.

Note: If a future Infor Smart Office will be applied, its manifest file must be signed with the same certificate as the original manifest. The certificate must be backed up.
