Creating links to URLs

  1. Launch the MForm you want to create a link from. Select Tools > Links Manager.
  2. Specify the title and description for the link.
  3. To make the link available to all users, select the Shared check box.

If you do not select Shared, the link you create will only be available to you.

Note: The Function and Panel information default from the form you were on when you launched the tool.
  4. From the Target drop-down, select Web and click Next.
  5. In the URL field, specify the URL to launch.
  6. If you want to add a field to the URL as a variable, select the field and click Insert. The variable will be translated into the actual field value when the link is executed from the item in the M3 list panel.

    Example

You want to create a link in a program that lists customers (such as CRS610) that allows you to search information about a customer on the Internet. Type the base URL http://www.google.se/search?q= into the URL field and then select and insert the customer name (CUNM) field into the URL as an variable. When you execute the link through Linked Documents in CRS610 , the <CUNM> field in the link will be translated to the customer name in the row you selected before the link is launched.

Note: A link that is marked with external web address will be opened in any default browser. The Use external browser checkbox will only be visible if the link is a web link. This is the same behaviour as for shortcuts and favorites, the option to launch externally is only visible for links such as http, http, mailto, etc.
  7. To save the link, choose OK.
  8. In the Link Manager, click Save to save the link.
Note: Links you create will be available to you immediately. Shared links will be available to other users after they re-start Infor Smart Office.
