Infor Smart Office Canvas overview

The canvas is the Infor Smart Office desktop. When Infor Smart Office is installed, a default canvas file is delivered. The default canvas is the canvas that all new users see when they log in for the first time.

As the system administrator, you can do the following with the canvas.

Task Description Reference
Create a new default canvas. For example, you can add widgets or configure widgets that you want your users to have on their desktops. See Managing the default canvas.
Create multiple default canvases for specific audiences and assign them to groups of users If you want to set up multiple default canvases intended for different user audiences, you can accomplish this by adding a rule for different groups in the Settings Editor tool where you specify the name of the Default canvas file. See Infor Smart Office settings overview.
Prevent users from changing their canvas If you prevent users from changing their canvases, the default canvas will be downloaded every time the client is started. In this way, any change to that file by an administrator will be pushed out to the users that do not have permission to update their canvas. The user can add, move and delete widgets during a session. But restarting the client will get them back to the same canvas. See Managing the default canvas.
Control the canvas items that users can change.

You can control the canvas items that users can change using the Settings Editor located in the Navigator Widget.

  • Mango UI settings control the default canvas, the users' ability to create and save their own canvas, and the items that are displayed on the canvas.

  • Mango Core settings control the default profile setting, roaming profiles, access to applications and widgets, and timeouts for web services communications.

For more information on using the Settings Editor to control the canvas, see Infor Smart Office settings overview.
Allow users to see their own personal canvas regardless of which machine they use to log in to Infor Smart Office. By default, users are allowed to create and save their own canvases. You can enable the roaming profiles feature to allow users to see their personal canvas even if they log on using a machine which is not their own. See Roaming profiles in Mango Core.
