Creating portal pages
There are two methods for creating new portal pages, and two types of pages can be created. The first method uses options from within the Portal Manager and allows you to create an FDF-based page or a static content page. The second method uses the Page Editor to create only FDF-based pages, and it provides a graphical interface for building the page.
Note: The IPF architecture reserves a folder with the
name
ipf
off the root of portal URLs. This allows the
architecture to provide other functionality, such as the Layout Editor, while
ensuring that you do not use the same URL. The Portal Manager makes sure that
the root folder of
ipf
is not used in a Site Page path. If a Site Page gets
a root path of
ipf
because of a direct update to the database, the
server returns a 404 "page not found" error.
