Using the Mass Unit Create Utility
Follow these steps to create a range of units and a copy of the configuration for an item or unit:
- Open the Mass Unit Create Utility.

Specify this information:
- Prefix
- Specify the prefix to append to the number range of units being created.
- Start
- Specify the numerical starting point for the range of units being created.
- End
- Specify the numerical ending point for the range of units being created.
- New Item
- Select the item for which to perform the mass unit creation. You must have already created the unit for which to set up a configuration.
- Install Date
- The current date is displayed. Optionally, select a different
install date for the configuration.
Note: The date selected is used by the As of Date configuration logic to determine which components are displayed.
- Copy Config From
- Select the source from which to copy the configuration.
- Unit
- A unit is a complete material composition, including all subcomponents, replacement parts, and/or add-ons. Each unit is identified with a unique alphanumeric ID. This ID can be the serial number of the unit, but it does not have to be the serial number. If it is a serial number, that number does not have to exist in the Serial Numbers form. This allows you to service units that you did not manufacture.
- Item
- The item number is displayed.
- Maximum Levels
- Specify the maximum number of levels to create the configuration. For example, when set to 2, the parent component and the first level of configuration are created.
- Create Warranties
- Select this check box to create unit warranty records.
- Create Units for Sub Components
- Select this check box if you want to create sub components on the configuration. If cleared, only a configuration for the parent unit is created.
- Click Clear All to clear the range of units created using the information entered into the prefix, start, and end fields.
- Click Build Range to build the range of units using the information entered into the prefix, start, and end fields.
- Click Process to run the utility.
